Genni came with me to pick up Loralee from the airport, her Steel Dragon cut drawing the attention of everyone around us. “Did you have to wear that to the airport?” I huff as we all get into my car. My freshly cleaned car, thanks to the brothers of Hell’s March.

“I wear it everywhere I go,” Genni retorts as Loralee watches us with a mixture of awe and amusement.

The moment she saw Genni and her President’s badge, her eyes nearly bugged out of her head. “Get it out now, Lora,” I snark as I start the car, my eyes finding hers in the rearview mirror.

“She’s a motorcycle club President. A woman! That’s unheard of!” she exclaims as though she’s been holding it in for too long.

“Genni Varga is in a league of her own and she’s earned it,” I say, pride saturating my tone, and I mean every word of it.

“Says The Viper,” Genni replies, slapping my shoulder as I turn out into traffic. “We’re not going back to the club right away, are we?”

My eyes flick to her then back to the road as I shrug my shoulders. “What do you want to do?”

“Day drink,” Loralee cuts in as Genni laughs. “I just left behind Willy Wonka and the fucking Chocolate factory, I need a stiff drink,” Loralee growls as Genni and I fall into laughter.

“Chip serves up some great drinks,” I try to coax them as Genni shakes her head.

“He’s not at the club this morning. Actually, when I left Hell’s March last night, his van was still outside,” Genni reveals as my brows come together.

It was still there when I left and that was after Genni was done talking to Jaeger and left for the Dragons’ compound. “Interesting,” I murmur as I turn onto the main strip. “Let’s get a drink.”

“Or five,” Loralee adds on.

I pull into the paid parking lot and we get out to walk the strip, looking for a bar to have a drink in. We look strange together, to say the least. Genni’s in a cut, I’m wearing my trench, and Loralee is in a skirt suit. An expensive suit if the look of the material says anything.

“Armani,” Loralee says to me with a smile, catching me checking out her attire.

“That reporter’s salary must be nice.” Genni whistles.

“Nah. I mean, it’s all right, but my family is loaded.” Loralee shrugs her shoulders.

Warmth skates over me as the back of my neck grows hot, like someone is watching us, and just as I’m about to look over my shoulder, Genni grabs my forearm.

“Don’t look. Either of you. We’ve been followed since we left the airport. It’s why I didn’t want to go back to the club. I was hoping it was just a figment of my imagination but two men got out of a van back at the parking lot and they’ve been walking about a yard behind us this entire time.” She releases my arm as we all keep our nonchalant gaits. I’m disappointed in myself for not realizing it first, but thankful Genni did nonetheless.
